FOG Solvent/Degreaser
To treat or prevent Fats, Oils, and Greases (FOG) in a Lift Station, various chemicals such as solvents, detergents, and caustics are used. There are also bacteria and enzymes that can be used to degrease Lift Stations and collection systems. It is very important however, to select the right treatment solution since the selection of the wrong chemical for example, may not make the grease disappear, but can cause the grease to be pushed further downstream, possibly all the way to the Wastewater Treatment plant, upsetting the plant and creating more problems that are not able to be remedied by the use of the chemical. Harsh chemicals can also cause corrosion in pipes and pumps.
