Defoamers (aka Anti-Foam Agents)

Defoamers prevent and release entrained air while mixing cement. Excessive foaming can have several undesirable effects in a cement slurry such as slurry gelation and cavitation in the mixing system. Defoamers are usually added to the cement dry blend or mix water to prevent the above issues.

Defoamers must have a low surface tension and spread rapidly along the gas-liquid interface, achieving maximum interaction with the foam. When an effective defoamer spreads, it must be capable of displacing the foam-stabilizing surface-active components and penetrating the foam’s lamellae to allow the entrapped gas to escape and the foam to burst.

Olive & Branch M&D provides a range of effective Defoamers for use in Cement Slurry and Spacer designs. Visit our Defoamer product pages below to learn more about the effective Defoamer products we offer.
