Description
ProFlush OBD is a pre-flush that was designed to simultaneously wet formation surfaces and help remove oil-based drilling muds as preparation for the next step of the cementing process.
ProFlush OBD is pumped ahead of the cement to separate it from oil-based drilling muds. When pumped ahead of the cement ProFlush OBD will leave downhole surfaces water wet and remove drilling mud residue, which can result in an improvement in quality of the bond between cement, casing, and formation. Since ProFlush OBD is a Newtonian fluid, it can be placed into turbulent flow in the annulus, which also aids in effective mud removal.
ProFlush OBD should be compatible with all oil-based muds and cement slurries but if uncertain test for compatibility before using the product. ProFlush OBD should also be compatible with nonionic and anionic additives.
ProFlush OBD has two components: ProFlush OBD-1 and ProFlush OBD-2 that can be added to water to form ProFlush OBD. ProFlush OBD-1 and OBD-2 were developed to provide excellent rinse off and water wetting when used as a pre-flush for oil-based muds. The products can be used individually or in combination to optimize performance in the application. ProFlush OBD-1 is more hydrophobic than OBD-2 and provides better rinse off and water wetting than OBD-2. Since ProFlush OBD-2 is more hydrophilic than OBD-1 it will perform better with more polar oils and can be used to reduce the viscosity of emulsions formed with OBD-1.
It is important to understand that for a majority of oil-based muds, either ProFlush OBD-1 or ProFlush OBD-2 can be alone, however, for difficult to treat oil-based muds a combination of the two may have to be used to achieve performance requirements.
Please see the Technical Data Sheets tab for additional information and lab test results for ProFlush OBD-1 and ProFlush OBD-2.
