Description
Sodium lignosulfonate when used as a plasticizer in concrete will reduce the cost of the concrete by 10 to 15% and increase the strength of concrete by 20 to 26%. It is an economical option that is suitable for use in concrete, high fluidity concrete, pumping concrete, and various concrete products.
Sodium lignosulfonate plasticizers offer the following benefits:
- Improved strength and durability of the cured concrete.
- Reduced concrete formulation cost. The use of 1 Ton of sodium lignosulfonate plasticizer powder, can save 30-40 Tons of cement.
- Increased workability of the concrete mix.
- May reduce water consumption by more than 14%.
- During the cement hydration process, can greatly reduce the initial heat of hydration.
- Has no corrosive effect on steel.
Usage Guidelines:
- Typical dosage is between 0.25 – 0.50% by weight of cement. The recommended dosage is 0.25% by weight of cement, which can achieve a water reduction between 8 – 11%. Users should determine the optimal dosage through lab testing.
- Sodium lignosulfonate powder can be added directly to the cement, sand, and gravel in the dry mix, even after the addition of water for mixing. Stirring time should be extended to avoid uneven mixing. If required, the powder can be adding to water to form a liquid sodium lignosulfonate solution, that can be prepared in advance, for adding to the concrete. However, it is important to deduct the water used to make the liquid solution, from the total water required for the concrete mix.
- Note: when using sodium lignosulfonate plasticizer, the setting time of the concrete may be extended by at least 2 hours, and the peak heat of hydration point may be delayed by at least 3 hours.
